My Companion,
We all travel through life in a very hurried pace. Sometimes we can
attend religious services, sometimes, we cannot. However, we can
always take a few minutes to thank God for allowing us to be here, and
to serve our respective Grand Bodies.

Thought
I remember hot August days, sitting on my grandparents' front porch, listening to the bobwhites. Their voices were sharp and clear, coming from across the road in the pines. And I'd whistle back, bob-bob-bobwhite.
One day, my grandfather observed, "Son, if you're going to call a bobwhite, you need to whistle like this." I had been mimicking what I heard, thinking I could fool one of the birds into believing I was another bobwhite.
But my grandfather taught me another way to whistle their call. I practiced. Mine was a bad imitation at first; but, after years of calling, I can honestly say that I have fooled a few birds.
We hear a lot of calls; many people compete for our time. Like the bobwhite, we must decide whether the calls we hear are genuine. We try to develop a sensitive ear for copycats or bad imitations of God's call. When the Lord calls, will we be too busy to listen? Will we be able to recognize God's call? Will we be sure of our priorities when God's call doesn't conform to what we feel is important? And most important, when God calls, will we answer?
