Cryptic Masons
Prayer

Heavenly Father, when life is treating us harshly and we cannot understand your plan, help us to trust your goodness and mercy. Show us your love and strengthen us so that we may come through times of trial with deeper faith.
In Your name we pray, Amen.

Spiritual Seasons

My Companion,

We all travel through life in a very hurried pace.  Sometimes we can attend religious services, sometimes, we cannot.  However, we can always take a few minutes to thank God for allowing us to be here, and to serve our respective Grand Bodies.

Scripture Lesson
Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Thought

When I lived in Michigan, I knew that when frost first threates, it is time to prepare my fuchsias for wintering. I place each plant in a pot, removing all flowers and new growth. Then I put the plants into a cool storage place and keep them dry. In spring, they will be replanted. They will once more be fed and watered and will grow bigger and stronger than ever before.

But what do the plants think of the treatment they are given? If they could talk, would they say, "It's unfair! The conifer next to me is allowed to stay." They might object to going unfed for months. I would have no way of making them understand. How could I teach a tender plant about frost without actually endangering it?

The spiritual life also has seasons. Sometimes we are able to soak up the warmth of our Sustainer's love. And sometimes - when we get hurt, when life has no beauty, when God seems remote - it is hard to remember that God cares! But then as always God is caring for us, protecting us from dangers we may never comprehend - just as I care for and protect my plants.
Logos

There is a time for everything, and a season for every matter under heaven.

Closing

We do not have to understand God's plan to trust in God's care.
